About Anne Symons Psychology

Anne is a clinical psychologist with over 23 years experience working across a range of settings including community organisations, hospital, government and private sector settings. In her work, Anne draws upon a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to the presenting concern, goals and needs of each individual. These include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems. Anne has a long-term interest in Mindfulness-based approaches, having facilitated mindfulness groups to many different audiences over the years.

Working in a warm, authentic and compassionate way, Anne seeks to provide a supportive, calm, safe space for people, collaborating with them to explore their difficult experiences, reaching goals, healing from past adversities, making positive and meaningful changes, coping with transitions, building resilience and ultimately living a life more closely aligned with their values. Anne considers it a privilege to go on this personal journey.

Anne is also keenly interested in workplace mental health and is a facilitator for the Black Dog Institute delivering workshops to enhance the wellbeing of individuals, teams and leaders, promoting psychologically healthy workplaces and protecting employees’ mental health in the workplace. FAQ’s

  • To access the Medicare rebate you need to visit your General Practitioner (GP) or Psychiatrist and explain your mental health concerns. Your GP or Psychiatrist will provide you with a ‘Mental Health Care Plan’ and a letter of referral, which entitles you to Medicare rebates. After the first six psychology sessions a GP review is required, following this an additional four sessions may be granted.

    Medicare offers rebates of $141.85. for up to 10 psychological sessions per calendar year.

  • Standard consultation fee: $240 (50 minute session).

  • Anne conducts in-person consultations in East Brunswick and also offers telehealth appointments. When you arrive for your appointment, there is a spacious and comfortable waiting room located down the hallway and the consulting room offers a relaxing and peaceful space.
